Split systems are a Bergs patented design, and they're our most popular option by a significant margin.
The natural question then becomes: why would you choose a standard all-in-one box when you could get a split system?
The answer depends on your specific setup.
If you already have a commercial ventilation system in place, or if the chiller has space to breathe, then a standard box design works fine.
Similarly, if you're replacing an existing all-in-one chiller and want to keep things simple, replacing it with the same type makes sense.
There's also the case where your chiller can sit just outside the wall, right next to the bath with a short pipe run.
That works well too.
The standalone boxes can go outside, but keep them undercover for longevity.
However, if you have long pipe runs, no existing ventilation setup, or no easy way to get the heat outside, then a split system is the clear choice.
You avoid the cost and complexity of installing a commercial ventilation system, and all the heat stays completely outside your recovery space.
