That Little Paper Filter is Doing Nothing

That Little Paper Filter is Doing Nothing

One of the most misunderstood aspects of running a commercial ice bath is filtration.

We see recovery room owners changing the water every day and relying on the little filter that came with their chiller, thinking it's enough.

It's not.

That filter does absolutely nothing for bacteria and pathogens in your ice bath. It only stops big clumps like dirt and hair.

Essentially, every person is sharing the same bathwater as everyone who came before them.

If the first person of the day has a staph infection, everyone who gets in after them is exposed.

They then go home and share it with their families.

This has been documented many times in Australia, where infections have been traced directly back to recovery rooms.

The consequences are heavy; hefty fines, potential shutdowns, and a damaged reputation.

And at the end of it all, you still have to invest in the proper filtration system you should have had from the start.

If you are relying on one of those little paper filters, know that it does nothing for bacterial contamination.

It puts every user, other than the first one, at risk.

A proper commercial filtration system is the correct solution.

At a bare minimum, you need a system with chemical dosing and a UV or ozone sanitiser to kill bacteria.

Paper filters alone are a health and compliance risk you cannot afford to take.
